Your IBM BPM installations are now updated to V8.5.0.2.

If you need to create a new IBM BPM environment you might want to review Planning for IBM Business Process Manager and the "Configuring profiles and creating a network deployment environment" topic in the custom installation section for your environment. Using the BPMConfig command is the recommended method to create an environment. See the IBM Business Process Manager documentation for details.

Downloading repositories to the local system

Download the fix pack repositories to a local directory so that they can be used with Installation Manager during the upgrade process.
Note:
  • If you are installing interactively by using Installation Manager to make the updates and you have Internet access, these steps are not needed. You can download the required WebSphere Application Server fix pack or IBM BPM fix packs from the live repository.
  • New installations require the IBM BPM V8.5.0 installation media, as noted in the IBM Knowledge Center for IBM BPM.

Procedure
  1. Download the appropriate fix pack by following the Version 8.5.0 Fix Pack 2 for the IBM Business Process Manager products document. Download bpm.8502.delta.repository.zip to a temporary disk location.

  2. You must have WebSphere Application Server V8.5.5 Fix Pack 4 or a later version installed or you must install it during the upgrade process. If you want to upgrade the WebSphere Application Server fix pack, download the applicable version for IBM BPM V8.5.0.2. For information about the fixes and download links, see Fix list for IBM WebSphere Application Server V8.5.

When you decompress the following two files to the same location, it creates the full WebSphere Application Server V8.5.5 Fix Pack 4 repository that includes all WebSphere Application Server offerings for all supported operation systems and architectures:
    8.5.5-WS-WAS-FP0000004-part1.zip
    8.5.5-WS-WAS-FP0000004-part2.zip

  3. Download any required interim fixes from IBM Fix Central that are specific to IBM BPM V8.5.0.2. Select your installation type and V8.5.0.2 to search for recommended fixes on this site.
Note: Applying this fix pack will remove any previously installed interim fixes. If a fix is included in the fix pack, then you do not have to reinstall the interim fix.

  4. Extract each fix's repository to its own local directory. If the fix pack repository consists of multiple zip files, ensure that they are all extracted to the same root directory, for example staging_directory\fixpack. Choose to overwrite duplicate directories so that the files from both the zip files are merged.

  5. Return to the installation instructions and continue with the appropriate steps based on your existing setup.

  9. Read and accept the terms of the license agreements by selecting the appropriate button and click Next. The Features window opens. All the installed features are selected.

  10. Click Next. All the features that need to be updated are shown in the Summary window. The disk space that is required to perform the update is shown at the bottom.

  11. Click Update. The updates are downloaded either from the live update repository or from your local repository. After the installation of the updates is complete, you receive a confirmation message.
    Note
    1. If you have a large number of IBM BPM interim fixes installed, you might encounter an OutOfMemory error. To solve this problem, follow these steps to increase the maximum Java heap size:
      1. Edit the file Installation_Manager_installation_directory/eclipse/IBMIM.ini.
      2. Increase the the maximum heap size and save the file. For example, setting it to Xmx1536M will reserve 1536MB for the heap. The default heap size might differ by operating systems.
      3. Restart Installation Manager and reinstall the fix pack.
    2. The Installation Manager log file might show some SDK-related errors. These are related to WebSphere Application Server (WAS) V8.x fix pack installation and can be safely ignored. For more information, see http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21584322.

  12. If you have existing profiles, follow the links below to return to the profile upgrade instructions to continue upgrading your profiles. If you want to upgrade additional installations, repeat this process.
