If you already have the WebSphere Application Server V7 Feature Packs installed, you still must have the repositories available and open when you are installing 7.0.0 Fix Pack 5. If you do not have them available, you will receive errors about not being able to synchronize the product installations.

Note: The feature pack repository that is available must be at the same fix level as the repository that is installed.

Hardware and software prerequisites for WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus and WebSphere Process Server are available through their respective Hardware and Software Support pages.

Ensure that the required disk space is available prior to installing the refresh pack. See the Space requirements section for details.

If you are upgrading a WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus or WebSphere Process Server installation with existing profiles, see Profile upgrade instructions for WebSphere Process Server and WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus V7.0.0 Fix Pack 5 (V7.0.0.5) installations with existing profiles.

Space requirements

Space requirements vary depending on your platform. The size of each download is available on the product support sites:WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus product support and WebSphere Process Server product support.

Space is also required in the <install_root>/properties/version/nif/backup directory. The space required for this directory is equal to the size of the refresh pack package, which typically varies from 50 MB to 200 MB.

Installing the fix pack

Upgrade instructions for installations with existing profiles:

If you have been using WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus or WebSphere Process Server at V7.0.0 Fix Pack 4 or earlier V7.0.0 releases and profiles have been created, additional steps are required. These steps include backing up the profile, stopping all Java™ processes and sequencing the upgrade. Before you continue with the fix pack installation, see the Profile upgrade Instructions for WebSphere Process Server and WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus V7.0.0 Fix Pack 5 (V7.0.0.5) installations with existing profiles for details on these steps. Return to this document, when instructed, to complete the Version 7.0.0 Fix Pack 5 installation.

Important:
Depending on the topology, instructions for updating the profile vary. The product might not continue to run successfully if you do not follow the instructions that are provided in the previously referenced upgrade instructions document.

Security-enabled network deployment environments

When you apply the fix pack in a network deployment environment where WebSphere administrative security is enabled, the connection to the deployment manager requires a user ID and password. Depending on your configuration, you might have to enter the credentials in a separate prompt near the end of the upgrade process.

Note: The credential panel displays twice during the upgrade process and has a default time out period of one minute. If you miss this prompt, your security configuration is set up such that a prompt is not displayed, or if you are running the silent installation script, follow the instructions in the Identifying profile update errors section.

For more information on how to configure security for WebSphere administration scripts, on which the WebSphere Process Server scripts depend, see configuring security with scripting in the WebSphere Application Server product documentation.

Steps for installing V7.0.0 Fix Pack 5 (7.0.0.5)

If you have existing profiles under this installation, before you continue with the fix pack installation, see Profile upgrade instructions for WebSphere Process Server and WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus V7.0.0 Fix Pack 5 (V7.0.0.5) installations with existing profiles for details on the steps to follow for various topologies. Return to this document, when instructed, to complete the Version 7.0.0 Fix Pack 5 installation.

Any interim fixes that have been installed using the Update Installer (UPDI) must be removed with the Update Installer before starting V7.0.0 Fix Pack 5 activities. Two interim fixes were installed silently during the V7.0.0.0 install: SDKPM00452.pak and 7.0.0.7-WS-WAS-<platform><arch>-IFPK98944.pak. You need to remove these interim fixes if you have not removed them previously.

If you do not have a V7.0.0 version of the Update Installer already installed, complete the following steps:

  1. Download the latest Update Installer version (V7.0.0 Fix Pack 23) from the Update Installer version 7.0 download page.

  2. Extract the Update Installer package to a temporary directory.

  3. Go to the UpdateInstaller subdirectory, which was extracted in the previous step.

  4. Install the Update Installer by running the install or install.exe executable file.

The IBM Installation Manager must be at a minimum level of 1.5.2 before starting the WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus or WebSphere Process Server 7.0.0 Fix Pack 5 installation updates. The Installation Manager detect whether an update is available if you are connected to the Internet on the workstation that you are planning to complete the Version 7.0.0 Fix Pack 5 update activities. All WebSphere Application Server V7.0.0 fix packs, version 11 and later, are available in an Installation Manager format. The WebSphere Application Server V7.0.0 Fix Pack 23 is a prerequisite to WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus, WebSphere Process Server, and the WebSphere Process Server client V7.0.0 Fix Pack 5. If the machine on which you have installed WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus, WebSphere Process Server, or WebSphere Process Server client has Internet access, skip to step 4.
  1. Download the Installation Manager 1.5.2 repository from the IBM Installation Manager, the WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus or the WebSphere Process Server download site. Download the package to a temporary disk location.

  2. Download the appropriate V7.0.0 Fix Pack 5 from the WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus or WebSphere Process Server download sites. Download the package to a temporary disk location.

    • wesb.7005.repository.zip (for WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus)

    • wps.7005.repository.zip (for WebSphere Process Server)

    • wpsclient.7005.repository.zip (for WebSphere Process Server client)

  3. If not already installed, download the WebSphere Application Server V7 Fix Pack, Interim fixes and Feature Pack repositories, and local copies of the WebSphere Application Server import repositories from the following locations:

  4. Unpack the repositories to any directories that you choose. Note where you have unpacked the repositories. You should unpack each repository to its own directory.
