Abstract

This document details and provides instructions for installing V7.5.0 Fix Pack 1 (V7.5.0.1) for IBM Process Designer

This fix pack is a maintenance package for the IBM Process Designer. It is a single package that bundles a number of individual fixes.

The V7.5.0 Fix Pack 1 is intended to be used on IBM Process Designer installations.

By installing the V7.5.0 Fix Pack 1, you raise the fix level of IBM Process Designer to V7.5.0.1.

The fixes addressed in V7.5.0 Fix Pack 1 are detailed in the Fix List for Business Process Manager products and WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus.






Fix pack prerequisites

To use this fix pack, you must have the following version of IBM Process Designer installed:


  • 7.5.0.0

Hardware and software prerequisites for IBM Business Process Manager Express, IBM Business Process Manager Standard, IBM Business Process Manager Advanced, and IBM Business Process Manager Advanced - Process Server are available on the web on their respective Hardware and Software Support pages.



Installing the fix pack



Installing V7.5.0 Fix Pack 1 (7.5.0.1)
Both IBM Process Center and IBM Process Designer must be at the same version. If you have updated your IBM Process Center to 7.5.0 Fix Pack 1, you must upgrade IBM Process Designer to 7.5.0 Fix Pack 1.


If you do not have IBM Process Center and IBM Process Designer at the same fix version, you will see the following warning message. You can resolve this warning message by updating IBM Process Designer to 7.5.0 Fix Pack 1




Download repositories to local system

If the machine on which you have installed IBM Process Designer has Internet access, skip the next two steps.
  1. Download the V7.5.0 Fix Pack 1, pdesigner.7501.repository.zip, file from the IBM Business Process Manager products download site to a temporary disk location.
  2. Unpack the repositories to any directories that you choose. Note where you have unpacked the repositories. You should unpack each repository to its own directory.


You can install the fix packs by using one of the following options:
Graphical user interface (GUI) of IBM Installation Manager to update an installation
Command line interface of IBM Installation Manager for a silent installation

Graphical user interface (GUI) of IBM Installation Manager to update an installation

  1. Start the Installation Manager.

    If you have Internet access, you can click Start > Programs > IBM > IBM Process Designer > Update. Then, skip to step 3b.

    If you do not have Internet access, you need to add the repository to IBM Installation Manager. You can start IBM Installation Manager using Start > Programs > IBM Installation Manager > IBM Installation Manager.

    Note
    : On the Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows 2008 operating systems, right click IBM Installation Manager and select Run as administrator.

  2. If you do not have Internet access, add the location of the local repository downloaded from the Download repositories to local system section to the IBM Installation Manager preferences.
    1. Click File > Preferences.

    2. Under Repositories, click Add Repository.

    3. Type or browse to the repository.config file for the IBM Process Designer repository that you have unpacked.

    4. Click OK.

    5. Click OK to save the new repository settings.

  3. To graphically install the fix packs:
    1. Click Update.

    2. Select the Package Group where you have installed IBM Process Designer and click Next > to continue.

      After Installation Manager checks the service repositories, the Update Packages window opens and the IBM Process Designer Version 7.5.0.1 Fix Pack is shown (unless there is a later fix pack available from the live update repository).

    3. Ensure that the fix pack is selected and then click Next >. The Features window opens.

    4. Click Next > to continue. The Summary window opens. The disk space required to perform the update is shown at the bottom.

    5. Click Update to start the update. The updates are downloaded either from the live update repository or from your local repository. The updates are installed. After the installation of the updates is complete, you receive a confirmation.



Command-line interface of IBM Installation Manager for a silent installation

Installation Manager offers a command-line interface to silently update your product installation.
  1. Use the following command to update IBM Process Designer to V7.5.0 Fix Pack 1

    <IM_INSTALL_LOCATION>/tools/imcl install com.ibm.bpm.authoring.v75_7.5.1.v20110729_1723 -installationDirectory <INSTALL_DIR> -repositories <FIXPACK_REPOSITORY> -log <LOG_FILE>

    Update the following variables in the previous command for your installation:

    The <IM_INSTALL_LOCATION>variable represents is the location where Installation Manager is installed. See Installation directories for the product and profile for more information on Installation Manager default install directories.

    The <INSTALL_DIR> variable represents the installation directory of the product.

    The <FIXPACK_REPOSITORY> variable represents the location of the fix pack repository.

    The <LOG_FILE> variable represents the location and name of the silent log to write.

  2. After you update the command for your environment, run the command from the tools directory under the Installation Manager install location.

    The following command is an example:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\Installation Manager\eclipse\tools\imcl install com.ibm.bpm.authoring.v75_7.5.1.v20110729_1723 -installationDirectory C:\IBM\ProcessDesigner\v7.5 -repositories C:\PD7501_repository -log silent_update.txt
  3. When the silent fix pack installation completes, check the log file to ensure that the installation process completed successfully. A success message shows on the command line. For example:

    Updated to com.ibm.bpm.authoring.v75_7.5.1.v20110729_1723 in the C:\IBM\ProcessDesigner\v7.5 directory.

Rolling back the V7.5.0 Fix Pack 1 (V7.5.0.1)

You can 'roll back' the fix pack to a previous version, by using one of the following options:

  1. Close all programs that were installed using Installation Manager before rolling back.

  2. Start Installation Manager. See Installation directories for the product and profile for more information on where Installation Manager is installed.

  3. From the Start page of the Installation Manager, click Roll back to start the Roll back packages wizard.

  4. On the Roll Back Packages page, from the Package Group Name list, select the package group that contains the packages that you want to roll back and click Next.

  5. Select the version of the package to which you want to roll back and click Next.

  6. Read the summary information and click Roll Back to roll back the package.

  7. Optional: When the rollback process completes, a message that confirms the success of the process is displayed near the top of the page. Click View log file to open the log file for the current session in a new window.

  8. Click Finish to close the wizard.

  9. Close Installation Manager.






Command line interface of IBM Installation Manager for a silent roll back of a fix pack



Installation Manager offers a command-line interface to silently rollback your product installation to the previous version.
  1. Use the following command to roll back IBM Process Designer to Version 7.5.0.0.

    <IM_INSTALL_LOCATION>/tools/imcl rollback com.ibm.bpm.authoring.v75_7.5.0.000_20110518_1535 -installationDirectory <INSTALL_DIR> -log <LOG_FILE>


    The <IM_INSTALL_LOCATION> variable represents the location where Installation Manager is installed. See Installation directories for the product and profile for more information on Installation Manager default install directories.

    The <INSTALL_DIR> variable represents the installation directory of the product.

    The <LOG_FILE> variable represents the location and name of the silent log to write.

  2. After updating the command for your environment, run the command from the tools directory under the Installation Manager install location.

    The following command is an example:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\Installation Manager\eclipse\tools\imcl rollback com.ibm.bpm.authoring.v75_7.5.0.000_20110518_1535 -installationDirectory C:\IBM\ProcessDesigner\v7.5 -log silent_rollback.txt
  3. When the rollback completes, check the log file to ensure that the rollback completed successfully. A success message will show on the command line. For example:

    Rolled back to com.ibm.bpm.authoring.v75_7.5.0.000_20110518_1535 in the C:\IBM\ProcessDesigner\v7.5 directory.
