Abstract
Prerequisite, installation, and uninstallation information for bridges

To import or export metadata by using a bridge, you must install the metadata interchange agent and bridges on a Microsoft Windows computer that is on the client tier of your InfoSphere Information Server installation.
You install bridges by choosing "Metadata interchange agent and bridges" in the product selection screen of the installation wizard.
When you install the metadata interchange agent and bridges, you can use the following tools to run the bridges:
- InfoSphere Metadata Asset Manager, which is the recommended tool for bridge imports.
- Import Export Manager, which can be used to export metadata.
You can install only one version of bridges on any single computer. If you have a previous version of bridges installed, you must use Microsoft Windows Add or Remove Programs to uninstall it before you install the new version.

Before you import or export, you must install Microsoft XML Core Services (MSXML) 4.0 Service Pack 2 on the same computer where you installed the bridges. Only version 4.0 Service Pack 2 meets this requirement; earlier and later versions do not meet the requirement. You can download MSXML 4.0 Service Pack 2 from http://www.microsoft.com.
To import metadata by using bridges from InfoSphere DataStage and QualityStage Designer, you must install the bridges on the same computer as the Designer client.

Additional software requirements for specific bridges
