Abstract
IBM® WebSphere® Portal is an enterprise portal solution with the complete portal services that are necessary to deliver a single point of personalized interaction to applications, content, business processes, and people for a unified user experience. IBM Web Content Manager is a powerful and sophisticated browser-based application designed to accelerate the creation, maintenance and delivery of critical business content across intranet, extranet, internet and portal sites.

Step 1: Access the software and documentation
Product software can be accessed from DVD or e-image, both available from Passport Advantage®. If you download your product from Passport Advantage, follow the directions in the download document at http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg24026545. This product is available as a single product offering with multiple licensing options. Review the International Program License Agreement for a list of licensing options and their respective entitlements.
Depending on the product offering you purchased, your product may include some or all of the following other IBM programs:
WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment, WebSphere Process Server, DB2® Universal Database Enterprise Server Edition, Tivoli® Directory Server, Tivoli Directory Integrator Identity Edition, IBM Web Content Manager, WebSphere Portlet Factory, WebSphere Portlet Factory Designer, Lotus Domino® Enterprise Server, Lotus Sametime®, Lotus Quickr™ for WebSphere Portal, OmniFind® Enterprise Edition, Lotus Forms Viewer, Lotus Forms Turbo, Lotus Forms Server, and Lotus Forms Designer.

Step 4: Install WebSphere Portal and Web Content Manager
The Quick installation scenario provides step-by-step instructions to help you quickly install a basic working instance of WebSphere Portal and Web Content Manager.
- 1. You can either start the installation process from the DVD or from the appropriate downloaded product code for your operating system.
- IBM i:
- To install locally from a QSH session of the IBM i console, run install.sh.
- To run the installer from the Microsoft® Windows® platform and install to a remote IBM i system, run install400.bat.
- Linux® and UNIX®: Run ./install.sh.
- Windows: Run install.bat.
Navigate to the Setup directory and run the following commands:
3. To verify that WebSphere Portal is running, open the following URL in a browser,
"hxxp://example.com:port_number/wps/portal",
where example.com is the fully qualified host name of the system that is running WebSphere Portal and port_number is the port number that is displayed on the confirmation page.
For example, "hxxp://www.ibm.com:10039/wps/portal".
To verify that Web Content Manager is running, start Portal, sign into the administrative console and click Applications > Content.
4. Install any required fixes for WebSphere Application Server at this time. See Supported hardware and software for more information about required fixes that must be applied.
