April 15, 2011 InfoSphere Information Analyzer
An updated version of InfoSphere Information Analyzer is available with Fix Pack 1. No new features were introduced, but fixes for InfoSphere Information Analyzer are included.

April 15, 2011 InfoSphere QualityStage
China rule sets: Change in folder location
The location of the People's Republic of China rule sets in the repository view of the InfoSphere DataStage and QualityStage Designer client has changed. For the list of predefined rule sets, including the rule sets for People's Republic of China, refer to Predefined rule sets.

April 15, 2011 istool command line
New istool command option to export creation tool information about common metadata assets
The -creationToolOnly option exports creation tool information about common metadata assets to an ISX file that can be imported into another installation of InfoSphere Information Server.

Creation tool information specifies the bridge or connector that imported the common metadata asset from a third-party tool, database, or file.

When you export a common metadata asset by using the istool command, the creation tool information is not exported for the assets that contain the exported asset. For example, if you export a database table, creation tool information is not exported for the containing host, database, and database schema.

The -creationToolOnly option fixes this problem by exporting creation tool information for all the assets that you specify. You can then import the creation tool assets by using the istool import command with the -cm option. This makes the creation tool information available for previously imported common metadata assets in the target repository.

Documentation of the -creationToolOnly option is provided in this technote: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?&uid=swg21460637

Documentation updates for connectors introduced April 15, 2011
DB2 connector documentation was updated to improve overall quality and usability.

ODBC connector, DB2 connector, and Oracle connector documentation was updated with miscellaneous changes, including information about additional properties that were added to support the DRS connector.

Documentation updates for using the Update Installer to install updates and additional products introduced April 15, 2011
Tasks were clarified for updating InfoSphere Information Server, Version 8.5, and installing additional products https://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27016531.

December 15, 2010 InfoSphere CDC Transaction Stage
You can use the CDC Transaction stage in an IBM InfoSphere DataStage job to read data that is captured by IBM InfoSphere Change Data Capture (InfoSphere CDC) and apply the change data to a target database.

The CDC Transaction stage integrates the replication capabilities that are provided by InfoSphere CDC with the ETL capabilities that are provided by InfoSphere DataStage. You can use these products together to perform real time, continuous replication with guaranteed delivery and transactional integrity in the event of failure.

Documentation updates for CDC Transaction stage introduced December 15, 2010
CDC Transaction stage documentation was introduced December 15, 2010, including:

Online Help in the installed IBM InfoSphere Information Server, Version 8.5, information center, which you can access by using the Help button in the stage editor.

The Internet-accessible IBM InfoSphere Information Server, Version 8.5 information center at http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/iisinfsv/v8r5/topic/com.ibm.swg.im.iis.conn.cdc.doc/topics/c_cdc_container.html.

The IBM InfoSphere Information Server Connectivity Guide for IBM InfoSphere Change Data Capture, which is named i46decdc.pdf, is available in the CDC Transaction stage patch.

December 1, 2010 InfoSphere Dynamic Relational Stage Connector
The Dynamic Relational Stage Connector can be configured to connect to a variety of relational database management systems through the native database interfaces. The database type is specified through the stage property and a job parameter can be used for this. The DRS Connector supports the following features:
    • IBM DB2, Oracle and ODBC database types
    • Parallel and server jobs
    • Database read, write, and lookup operations
    • Manual and auto-generated SQL statements. Manual statements can be specified in the stage directly or in the file on the engine tier
    • Creating or truncating a target table before writing data to it
    • Array mode of operation
    • Control over transaction size and isolation level
    • Bulk load write mode (IBM DB2 and Oracle only)
    • Record ordering across multiple input links (parallel jobs only)
    • Rejecting bad records in combination with the Transformer stage (server jobs only)
    • Running custom SQL statements on the database BEFORE any records are processed by the stage
    • Running custom SQL statements on the database AFTER all the records were processed by the stage
    • Using derivation attributes of the output link columns for auto-generated SELECT statements
    • Case-sensitive or case-insensitive handling of the specified table and column names
    • Connector Migration Tool was enhanced to support migration of jobs with legacy Dynamic RDBMS stage (DRS plug-in) to jobs with DRS Connector stage

October 22, 2010 InfoSphere DataStage XML Transformation
XML Transformation is used to create powerful hierarchical transformations, as well as parse and compose XML data. XML Transformation provides these capabilities:

Documentation updates for XML Transformation introduced October 22, 2010
XML Transformation documentation was introduced October 22, 2010, including:

The files for the examples that are described in the documentation are available at http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27019894.
