Known Side Effects
Open defectsReview the following list of open defects for Rational Test Workbench on the IBM Support Portal page. Review technote 1461170: Open APARs for Rational products available on the Web for information on how to configure your MyNotifications subscription account and subscribe to the APARs you are interested in following. Known LimitationsCore If you install Rational Test Workbench Eclipse Client on Macintosh OS, the IBM Rational Quality Manager and IBM Rational Team Concert Jazz clients are not available with the installer. To use the Jazz clients on Macintosh, you must download the P2 update site compressed files from www.jazz.net and install them using the native Eclipse client. Ability to initiate Rational Test Workbench tests from IBM UrbanCode Deploy is supported only for Microsoft Windows and Linux computers. The feature is not supported on Macintosh computers. Limitations in Mobile extensionLimitations with iOS 8 support: iOS 8 support on physical devices is currently limited to manual tests of a single app. This iOS limitation exists on iOS 8, iOS 8.0.1, and iOS 8.0.2. You can implement test automation scenarios using the native client running in an iOS Simulator or upgrade the device to iOS 8.1.1 or later. Full support for automated testing on iOS 8 devices is dependent on Apple's response to a defect filed against iOS 8. Windows users must use the command line or iTunes to install instrumented apps on iOS 8 or later devices. Installing instrumented apps using the test workbench UI on a Windows computer is not currently supported on iOS 8 or later devices. Web app testing on iOS 8 devices and simulators require at least the 8.6.1 version of the IBM Rational Mobile Web Recorder. iOS 8 support requires the most recent version of iTunes. When you use the Rational Test Workbench Mobile Test Client on iOS simulators, the mobile test client do not display the iOS version. Instead, it displays the version number of Macintosh operating system. Mobile performance testing limitations: Resource monitoring is supported only when the test run is initiated from the Rational Test Workbench Eclipse client. Resource monitoring is not supported with the iOS native client of Rational Test Workbench Mobile Client on simulators. However, iOS web client can be used to test on both devices and simulators. Resource monitoring is not supported for apps that invoke other apps or processes during test execution. Mobile performance resource monitoring counters limitations: A counter indicating battery level is available only at the device level. A counter indicating virtual memory is available only for the application being tested. Application-specific network data for Android apps is supported on Android 4.4.2 and later on only mobile devices. Application-specific network data for iOS apps is captured based only on the most commonly used network communication APIs, and not all APIs. Limitations in Web UI extensionThe following actions are not supported in both Web UI recording and playback:Controls inside frames are not supported for web browsers accessed from a computer Shortcut keyboard keys Scroll bar action in the web browser Context menu action Native browser dialog boxes The following actions are not supported in Web UI recording, but you can add them manually in the test editor for a successful playback: Back and Forward browser navigation action JavaScript alert dialog boxes such as confirmation and prompt messages Mouse hover action Playback is not supported on a browser window that is launched with the showModalDialog API. Sometimes the playback of a multiwindow test fails to execute on Internet Explorer. This limitation is observed primarily after you switch from the second window to the first and click a link in the first window. Sometimes the playback on the Google Chrome browser displays an Internal Error. The Problem Determination log in Eclipse has references to "StaleElementException." Sometimes the playback on Internet Explorer shows an Internal Error. The Problem Determination log in Eclipse has references to "Unable to get browser." Sometimes the application under test becomes unresponsive during record/playback time. This happens primarily if the application refreshes regularly using Ajax requests. The Web UI extension is not supported on a Turkish Macintosh computer. Recording and playback for multiple windows in the Apple Safari browser is not supported. Using multiple monitors with workbench running on one monitor and browser on another for an extended view is not supported. Due to a limitation in the Selenium web driver, the Web UI extension does not support JavaScript alerts in the Apple Safari web browser. If a Web UI test with loop is played back in a mobile device on the Chrome browser, after the first loop completes, the browser opens an empty tab due to which the Rational Test Workbench web client switches to non-passive state. For the next loop to start, the user has to manually set the device to passive mode. |
