Prerequisites

IBM Installation Manager version 1.6.3.1

If you are installing or upgrading Rational Functional Tester on Microsoft Windows, to use the .NET Scripting feature, you must copy msvcp71.dll into the System32 directory (C:\Windows\System32), if it is not already available. You can copy the msvcp71.dll file from any other Windows operating system such as Windows XP or download it from Internet.

Before you update Rational Functional Tester, close the Eclipse and Microsoft Visual Studio IDEs, as well as any open Web browsers, and all other applications that are enabled by Functional Tester.

Note: To install version 8.5, the minimum required version of IBM Installation Manager 1.6.3.1 is required.

Accessing Help
Rational Functional Tester help is included with the product. You can also connect to the ibm.com site and access the information center help. See Accessing help in Rational Functional Tester versions 8.2.2 and later in the Rational Functional Tester Information Center.
Note: It is recommended that you access information center help from the ibm.com website. After installing Rational Functional Tester version 8.5, complete these steps:

    1. Start Rational Functional Tester.
    2. Click Window and then click Preferences.
    3. In the Preferences dialog box, expand Help in the left panel, and then click Content.
    4. In the Content page, select the RFT 8.5 Infocenter row and then click Enable.
    5. Click Apply and then click OK.
    6. Restart Rational Functional Tester, and view the help.
Review technote 1639965: The 'Testing' book is not displayed in the Table of Contents in the help included with Rational Functional Tester version 8.5 for more information.

Installing Rational Functional Tester 8.5 .NET 2010 help
If you have installed Rational Functional Tester 8.5 Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 .NET Integration, you must install Rational Functional Tester Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 .NET help manually.
    1. After installing Rational Functional Tester 8.5 Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 .NET Integration, open Rational Functional Tester, click Help and then click Manage Help Settings. This opens the Visual Studio Help Library Manager.
    2. Select the Install content from disk option.
    3. Click Browse and select the helpcontentsetup.msha file that is available by default in the Rational Functional Tester installation directory\IBM\SDP\FunctionalTester\vsnet\MSDNHelp\VS2010 directory. The help manifest files for other translations are found within the locale folders available in the VS2010 directory. Click Next.
    4. Select RFT and click Add. The Update button is enabled.
    5. Click Update. You are prompted to confirm the installation. Click Yes. The Rational Functional Tester .NET help is installed as local help for Visual Studio 2010.

    Note: To view the Rational Functional Tester .NET Scripting help in the Visual Studio 2010 IDE, you must enable the local help option in the Help Library Manager.

    Tip: To view the complete table of contents of the installed local help in the Visual Studio 2010 IDE, install the Visual Studio Help Keyword Index plug-in that is available from the Microsoft website. Alternatively, you can upgrade to Visual Studio 2010 Service Pack 1 to view help in the Microsoft Help Viewer.

PM87452While testing Dojo applications, actions on grid rows 25 or later are recorded incorrectly.
PM89978The hasFocus() method always returns false on a Windows combo box.
PM77402When multiple JRE versions are installed on a browser, Rational Functional Tester always uses the latest JRE version even if the version is not enabled.
PM88383The documentation for configuring Flex runtimeloader needs correction.
PM79639When multiple tabs are opened on Google Chrome or on unsupported Mozilla Firefox browsers, script playback on Java applications is slow.
PM77056It is not possible to filter the test verdict of XML playback result logs.
PM77401The getDomains() method does not return the correct domain with manual and automatic enablement.
PM77594It is not possible to open datapools on Japanese installations of Rational Functional Tester Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Integration.
PM86882If the function keys are remapped on Rational Functional Tester Extension for Terminal-based Applications terminal type VT-220, the extension becomes unresponsive after remap.
PM87087During playback, Rational Functional Tester is unable to select values from a list if the value to be selected is not visible.
PM81321The TestObjectFinder.findByPropertySet() method fails to find testobjects.
PM84201The find() API takes more than 10 times longer on Google Chrome browsers than on Internet Explorer browsers.

  • Eclipse 4.2 and 4.2.2 support: Rational Functional Tester supports the testing of 32-bit Eclipse 4.2 and 4.2.2 applications.
