With the installer package, you can install Installation Manager by running the
install
command.
The fix pack package is significantly larger than the platform specific installer packages. You can add the fix pack as a repository to update Installation Manager. You cannot install Installation Manager with the fix pack.

Using a computer that does not have Internet Access
For computers that do not have Internet access, you must download the installer package or fix pack on a computer that has Internet access. Copy the compressed file to the computer where you are installing or upgrading Installation Manager.
Use the installer package to install Installation Manager using the user interface or silent install
The installer package is platform specific. You can either use the Installation Manager interface to run the installation or perform a silent installation.
NOTE: You can use this option if the computer does not have access to the Internet.
1. Download the installer package, agent.installer.platform_version, for a specific platform.
2. Extract the compressed file to a directory.
3. Install using the Installation Manager user interface or the silent install:
Installation Manager user interface
- a. Open a command prompt to the directory where you extracted the compressed file.
b. Run the command:
- Windows:
install.exe
Linux and UNIX:
./install
- a. Open a command prompt to the directory where you extracted the compressed file.
b. Run the command:
- Windows:
installc.exe -acceptLicense
Linux, UNIX, IBM i, and z/OS:
./installc -acceptLicense
Perform a silent update of the Installation Manager
For computers without Internet access
1. Open a command prompt to the directory where you extracted compressed file.
2. Run the command to update Installation Manager:
- Windows:
installc -acceptLicense
Linux, UNIX, IBM i, and z/OS:
./installc -acceptLicense
For computers with Internet access
1. Create the file setSearchForUpdates.xml
2. Add the content:

3. Save the file.
4. Open a command prompt to the
eclipse\tools
subdirectory located in the directory where Installation Manager is installed. 5. Run the command to update Installation Manager:
- Windows:
imcl.exe input setSearchForUpdates.xml -acceptLicense
Linux, UNIX, IBM i, and z/OS:
./imcl input setSearchForUpdates.xml -acceptLicense
Use Installation Manager to search for updates
NOTE: This method requires Internet access.
1. Start Installation Manager.
2. Verify that updates are enabled. Click File > Preferences > Updates and select Search for Installation Manager update.
3. Verify that service repositories are searched. Click File > Preferences > Repositories and select Search service repositories during installation and updates.
4. Click OK.
5. On the main page of the Installation Manager, click Update.
Use the fix pack to update Installation Manager
The fix pack contains files for all supported platforms. Use this option when you are updating Installation Manager on multiple platforms.
NOTE:
- You can use this option if the computer that has Installation Manager installed does not have access to the Internet.
- The fix pack package is significantly larger than the installer package. If you are updating Installation Manager on one platform, use the installer package to update Installation Manager.
Using the Installation Manager GUI
1. Download the com.ibm.cic.agent.offering.zip.
NOTE: Do not download a platform specific .zip file like
agent.installer.platform_version
.2. Extract the compressed file to a directory.
3. Add the fix pack repository location in IBM Installation Manager:
- a. Start IBM Installation Manager.
b. In Installation Manager, click File > Preferences > Repositories.
c. Click Add Repository.
d. Browse to or enter the file path to the repository.config file. The repository.config file is located in the directory where you extracted the compressed files.
e. Verify that updates are enabled. Click File > Preferences > Updates and select Search for Installation Manager update.
Using the Installation Manager command line
1. Download the com.ibm.cic.agent.offering.zip.
2. Extract the compressed file to a directory.
3. Open a command-line utility.
4. Open the
tools
directory of the installed Installation Manager.5. Run the command:
- Windows:
imcl.exe install com.ibm.cic.agent -repositories C:\com.ibm.cic.agent.offering\repository.config
Linux, UNIX, IBM i, and z/OS:
./imcl install com.ibm.cic.agent -repositories /opt/com.ibm.cic.agent.offering/repository.config

Note: In Fix Central, theagent.installer.platform_version
file is referred to as a refresh pack and as a fix. You can use this file to install Installation Manager. You can also use this file to update Installation Manager from an earlier version.
