IBM WebSphere Application Server V7 Feature Pack for Communications Enabled Applications (CEA) Fix Pack 11 for distributed platforms, also known as CEA Feature Pack Fix Pack 1.0.0.

The ZIP files in the Download Package section below can be used for setting up a local repository to install CEA Fix Pack 1.0.0.11 using Installation Manager for WebSphere.

The WebSphere Application Server V7 Feature Pack for Communications Enabled Applications (CEA) V1.0 helps simplify development of innovative applications by offering an SOA-based programming model to add multi-modal communications capabilities such as Click-to-call, Co-browsing and Two-way Synchronized Forms, to existing and new applications using existing Java™ skills. What is new for CEA Feature Pack Fix Pack V1.0.0.11?

  • New Web 2.0 mobile widgets extend multi-modal communications across desktop and mobile browsers.

  • Mobile Browser Support:
    • New Web 2.0 mobile widgets deliver versions of Click to call, Call Notifications, Contact Center Co-browsing, Peer-to-peer Co-browsing and Two Way Synchronized Forms optimized for iPhone and Android mobile browser applications.

    • Helps customers build applications with native mobile web application look and feel.

    • Support for mobile specific interactions such as touch and gesture support for selecting, scrolling and zooming on mobile browsers.

    • Enables mobile users to Co-browse with desktop or mobile users.

Prerequisites

  1. Install WebSphere Application Server Version 7.0.0.9. Note: You must install WebSphere Application Server Version 7.0 Fix Pack 9 and the Java SDK 1.6 SR7 Cumulative Fix for WebSphere Application Server Version 7.0.0.9.

  2. Install IBM Installation Manager for WebSphere. The CEA feature pack is one of the first WebSphere Application Server products to be installed by Installation Manager rather than by the programs based on InstallShield MultiPlatform (ISMP) that are used to install, update, and uninstall previous versions of WebSphere Application Server. You can download and unpack a compressed file containing the Installation Manager appropriate for your operating system from the IBM Installation Manager for WebSphere Web site. You can then install Installation Manager on your local system and use it to import WebSphere Application Server Version 7.0 as well as to install the feature pack from the Web-based repositories.

  3. The operating system requirements for a feature pack are the same as for the application server installation. However, you need to ensure that you have enough free disk space to install the feature pack onto the application server installation.

Installation Instructions

Perform the following tasks to install Feature Pack for CEA Version 1.0.0.11 on WebSphere Application Server Version 7.0.0.9:

  1. Install WebSphere Application Server V7.0.

  2. Use the Update Installer to install WebSphere Application Server Version 7.0 Fix Pack 9 and the Java SDK 1.6 SR7 Cumulative Fix for WebSphere Application Server Version 7.0.0.9

  3. Install IBM Installation Manager for WebSphere. You can download and unpack a compressed file containing the Installation Manager appropriate for your operating system from the IBM Installation Manager for WebSphere Web site. Start Installation Manager.

  4. Import WebSphere Application Server into Installation Manager. Make sure to stop all servers and applications on the WebSphere Application Server installation that is being imported.

  5. Install Feature Pack for CEA Version 1.0.0.0 using Installation Manager. This can be done by using either Web-based Repository or Local Repository. Whenever possible, you should use the remote Web-based repositories so that you are accessing the most up-to-date WebSphere Application Server base-product import and feature pack installation files. The feature-pack version of Installation Manager is preconfigured to use both the local repositories (if they are set up) and the remote repositories.

  6. Install CEA Fix Pack 1.0.0.11 using Update option on Installation Manager main page. This can also be done by using either Web-based Repository or Local Repository.
