Abstract

This document describes how to download and install IBM Web Interface for Content Management (IBM WEBi), Version 1 Release 0 Modification 4 Fix Pack 1.

Download Description

IBM WEBi is a Web client that enables users to work with content from multiple content servers. IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4 Fix Pack 1 works with IBM Content Manager Enterprise Edition content servers and IBM Content Manager OnDemand content servers. IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4 Fix Pack 1 is also able to search across multiple IBM Content Manager servers, multiple IBM Content Manager OnDemand servers, or a combination of servers by using IBM Content Integrator.

Important: You can have only one instance of IBM WEBi on your system unless you are using WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment in a clustered environment.

About the fix pack

IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4 Fix Pack 1 includes changes for APARs IO12021, IO12165, IO12186, IO12200, IO12216, IO12218, and IO12327.

If you are affected by any of the APARs that are contained in this fix pack, apply this fix pack to IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4.

IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4 Fix Pack 1 also includes several important changes.

Changes to SSO environments

IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4 Fix Pack 1 includes a change to the behavior of the Change Password button for environments where single sign-on (SSO) is configured. In IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4 Fix Pack 1, if SSO is configured for an IBM Content Manager server, the Change Password button is not displayed when the user is logged in. The behavior was changed because the password is not changed on the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) server when SSO is enabled.

Changes to message customization

IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4 Fix Pack 1 supports the Java 1.6.0_17 browser plug-in, which requires that all the JAR files that are used by a signed applet also be signed. Because the applets that are provided with IBM WEBi must be signed, the message file, WCAppletMessages.properties, that is included in the appletMessages.jar file cannot be customized.

Space requirements

To download and install IBM WEBi, you must allocate the following resources:

Prerequisites

To install IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4 Fix Pack 1, you must have IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4 installed on the Web application server. The prerequisite software for IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4 Fix Pack 1 is the same as the prerequisite software for IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4.

Installation Instructions

Backing up your current installation

Before you install the fix pack, it is recommended that you back up your current installation of IBM WEBi.

Important: You cannot restore the previously installed version of IBM WEBi from IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4 Fix Pack 1. If you want to restore the previous version of IBM WEBi, you must uninstall IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4 Fix Pack 1 and reinstall the previous version. If you backed up your previous installation, you can reapply your configuration files from the backed up copy of IBM WEBi.

Follow the instructions for Backing up your current installation in Planning, Installing, and Configuring IBM WEBi.

Configuring connections to content servers

Important: If you have already configured a connection to a content server, you cannot modify the connection to the content server during this installation. You must use the configuration tool to modify the connection after the installation is complete.

When you install IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4 Fix Pack 1, you can configure connections only to new types of content servers. For example, if you have already configured a connection to an IBM Content Manager OnDemand server during a previous installation, you can configure a connection to an IBM Content Manager server, but you cannot add a connection to a new IBM Content Manager OnDemand server or modify an existing connection to an IBM Content Manager OnDemand server. However, you can configure the connection to the new content server type only if you install of the prerequisite software.

Tip: If you want to create a connection to a new type of server, and IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4 Fix Pack 1 is already installed, you can run the installation program for IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4 Fix Pack 1 again to create the connection.

Installing the fix pack

This fix pack is installed as an update to IBM WEBi. You can install the update by running the installation program or by running a silent installation.

Restrictions: When you update IBM WEBi, the following restrictions apply:

Follow the instructions for Upgrading the Web client in Planning, Installing, and Configuring IBM WEBi.

Removing the fix pack

If you want to remove the fix pack and restore a previous version of IBM WEBi, you must uninstall the fix pack and reinstall the version that you want to restore.

Follow the instructions for Restoring a previous version of IBM WEBi in Planning, Installing, and Configuring IBM WEBi.

Problems Solved

IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4 Fix Pack 1 APARs

The following section describes all the APARs fixed in IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4 Fix Pack 1.

To search for detailed information about an APAR, enter the APAR number in the Search field at the top of the page. If your search does not return any results, the details of the APAR are not available through the product Support Portal.

APAR IO12021: Temporary audio files are not deleted from the IBM WEBi server

Problem description

IBM Content Manager OnDemand systems only.

If a user opens an audio file from IBM WEBi and then cancels the request, the temporary file that corresponds to the request might not be deleted on the IBM WEBi server.

Resolution

In IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4 Fix Pack 1, the temporary audio files are deleted from the IBM WEBi server to prevent files from accumulating on the server.

APAR IO12165: IBM WEBi cannot handle a null value for a property with predefined values

Problem description

IBM Content Manager OnDemand systems only.

If a user edits the properties of a document and does not specify a value for a property with predefined values, IBM WEBi prevents the user from saving the change and displays an error message. This occurs even though the property is not required.

Resolution

IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4 Fix Pack 1 allows users to leave properties with predefined values blank if the properties are not required.

APAR IO12186: Users cannot control MP3 files when using Microsoft Internet Explorer

Problem description

IBM Content Manager OnDemand systems only.

If a user opens an MP3 file from IBM WEBi in Microsoft Internet Explorer, the user cannot fast-forward, rewind, or pause the MP3 file in Microsoft Media Player.

This problem occurs because the Microsoft Media Player needs to know the size of the file to determine the slider control details.

Resolution

In IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4 Fix Pack 1, IBM WEBi provides the file size information to the Microsoft Media Player, which enables the player to display the slider control.

APAR IO12200: Some user-defined MIME types are not correctly interpreted when documents are retrieved from the content server

Problem description

IBM Content Manager OnDemand systems only.

If a user retrieves a document with a user-defined MIME type from an IBM Content Manager OnDemand server and IBM WEBi does not recognize the MIME type, the file extension is set to .dat.

For example, IBM WEBi did not recognize the user-defined MIME type ondemand/application extention-field=pdf.

Resolution

IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4 Fix Pack 1 uses the file extension that is specified in the user-defined MIME type to correctly interpret the MIME type of the document.

APAR IO12216: IBM WEBi cannot display unexpected timestamp formats in child components

Problem description

IBM Content Manager systems only.

If an item type contains child components, and one of the child components is a timestamp property, IBM WEBi cannot display the value of the property if the value has the format yyyy-MM-dd-HH.mm.ss.NNNNNN (Year-Month-Day-Hour.Minute.Second.Microsecond).

IBM WEBi expects the format yyyy-MM-dd-HH.mm.ss.SSS (Year-Month-Day-Hour.Minute.Second.Millisecond).

Resolution

In IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4 Fix Pack 1, if the format of the timestamp for the child component is yyyy-MM-dd-HH.mm.ss.NNNNNN, IBM WEBi converts the format to yyyy-MM-dd-HH.mm.ss.SSS to display the value.

APAR IO12218: The applet viewer jumps to the first page of the document when you click Edit

Problem description

IBM Content Manager systems only.

If a user opens a document with multiple parts in the applet viewer and turns off the thumbnail view, the applet viewer returns to the first page of the document when the user clicks Edit. For example, if the user is on page 5 and clicks Edit, the document opens in edit mode on page 1.

Resolution

In IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4 Fix Pack 1, the applet viewer maintains the page that the user is on when the user clicks Edit.

APAR IO12327: The applet viewer cannot display documents side-by-side in Internet Explorer 8

Problem description

Users could not view two documents side-by-side in the applet viewer if they used IBM WEBi with Internet Explorer Version 8 when the Compatibility View is not enabled.

Resolution

IBM WEBi can now display documents side-by-side when Internet Explorer 8 Compatibility View is not enabled.
