Abstract

A null pointer exception is thrown when attempting to evaluate the cache name string.

PK79324 resolves the following problem:

ERROR DESCRIPTION:
Cache monitor throws a NullPointerException and returns HTTP 500 error to the browser.

LOCAL FIX:

PROBLEM SUMMARY:

USERS AFFECTED:
All users of WebSphere Application Server V7.0 using the cache monitor.

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
A null pointer exception is thrown when attempting to evaluate the cache name string.

RECOMMENDATION:
None

The dynacache server code was not written to expect a null string for the cache name. As a result, a null cache name results in a null pointer exception.

PROBLEM CONCLUSION:
Code has been added to the dynacache server code to check for a null string before evaluating the cache name.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fixpack 7.0.0.5. Please refer to the Recommended Updates page for delivery information:
