Troubleshooting
Problem
Database restore can fail with ANR8419E and ANR2977E when trying to retrieve information from the device configuration file.
Symptom
The restore dB failure output will look similar to the following:

ANR8419E DEFINE PATH: The drive or element conflicts with an existing drive in
libraryYOURLIB.
ANR2977E DEFINE PATH: The command failed because of an issue in the device
configuration file.

Cause
The device configuration file does not have the correct element address for the drive that will restore the database
Diagnosing The Problem
Collecting MMS NA PVR and ICREST trace of restore db will show the following errors:
19:13:42.133 [0][mmsdrive.c][9526][UpdateDriveId]:Drive DR1 opened with element 258 has different element than DB element 257
19:13:42.134 [0][mmsdrive.c][4916][MmsUpdateDrive]:UpdateDriveId for drive DR1 failed with rc 4023 and errorAttrib 2.
Resolving The Problem
The trace message indicates that the library identifies address 258 for the drive, but the device configuration file has element address 257 defined.
[mmsdrive.c][9526][UpdateDriveId]:Drive DRIVE1 opened with element 258 has different element than DB element 257
To resolve the problem, update DEFINE DRIVE definition ( In Device Configuration file) for problem drive by changing element address to be the address mentioned first in the message. Using the above trace example, for the error message:
- [mmsdrive.c][9526][UpdateDriveId]:Drive DRIVE1 opened with element 258 has different element than DB element 257
You world update drive definition for DRIVE1 and change element address to 258. The restore db process should no longer fail with the ANR8149E and ANR2977E.
