Problem
A backup of a server database fails with error ANR2968E following an upgrade of the server from lower V7 levels to V7.1.8 or from lower V8 levels to V8.1.2 or later.
Symptom
After an upgrade of the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager server from lower V7 levels to V7.1.8 or of the IBM Spectrum Protect server from lower V8 levels to V8.1.2, database backups that were running successfully in the past fail with error ANR2968E.
The following error is logged in the activity log:
ANR8600W An incoming TCP connection from 127.0.0.1:51676 was detected on the SSL port. Connection refused
ANR2968E Database backup terminated. DB2 sqlcode: -2033. DB2 sqlerrmc: -50
levels to V8.1.2 or later. This failure is due to new security settings delivered with V7.1.8 and V8.1.2.
Cause
Beginning with IBM Tivoli Storage Manager V7.1.8 and IBM Spectrum Protect V8.1.2, it is no longer required to use the SSLTCPPORT or SSLTCPADMINPORT options to allow SSL-enabled sessions from the client.
Instead, the port number that is specified for the TCPPORT or TCPADMINPORT options listens for both TCP/IP and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)-enabled client sessions. If the same port number is specified for the SSLTCPPORT and TCPPORT options, only SSL connections are accepted for the port and TCP/IP connections are disabled.
Resolving The Problem
Ensure that the "$$_TSMDBMGR_$$" node communicates with the server using SSL.
To do so, add "SSL YES" to either the dsm.sys file for Unix/Linux platform or the tsmdbmgr.opt file for Windows platform depending on which one is used by the database backup operation.
