Browser hangs when attempting to create, edit, or load a new job

Troubleshooting

Problem

After Information Server is installed, you are not able to create a job in the IBM DataStage Flow Designer. When you click the 'Pencil' button, the browser hangs and you are unable to open a new job tab. The following error appears in the browser console: "TypeError: Cannot read property 'DB2ConnectorPX' of undefined" This situation can also happen if you are editing or loading a job.

Symptom

When you click the 'Pencil' button to create a new job, the browser hangs with a spinning wheel activity indicator. The focus remains in the current tab. If you inspect the problem in the browser, you can see the following error recorded:

TypeError: Cannot read property 'DB2ConnectorPX' of undefined.

The browser becomes unresponsive and you cannot work with IBM DataStage Flow Designer.

Cause

When you open a new job canvas, the browser requests the metadata required for setting up the palette. It can take some time to get all this metadata. During this time, if you click the 'Pencil' icon, this problem can result.

Resolving The Problem

1. Refresh the browser to get on to the welcome screen.
2. Click the jobs dashboard.
3. Wait for a period of 15-30 seconds until the all the data is retrieved, then click the 'Pencil' icon.

The New Job tab opens for editing of a job. This process needs to be done only once per session of the browser.
