Problem
When working with IBM Rational Rhapsody Design Manager, files appear to be editable in IBM Rational Rhapsody even though they should be locked.
Cause
The Rhapsody DM Client Extension checks the status of model elements every 2 minutes by default and updates the browser accordingly. It is possible for User A to begin editing a unit a few seconds after User B's client has refreshed. This creates a ~120 second window in which User B can edit or even complete editing the same unit, only to be told that the file was locked by another user and the changes can not be saved.
Resolving The Problem
With Rhapsody open and a model loaded:
1) Select Tools > Design Manager > Settings from the menu.
2) Change the Element refresh interval to a value less than 120 seconds.
3) Click OK.
