Troubleshooting
Problem
This document covers several different errors that might occur while installing the optional Jazz for Service Management and Tivoli Common Reporting component, which might be installed before or after Spectrum Control. Unless noted, these errors cause the installation to fail and must be resolved.
Symptom
Jazz for Service Management 1.1.0.3 fails to install. Errors occur during the Tivoli Common Reporting component installation.
Resolving The Problem
The following errors are a subset of what might occur while installing Jazz for Service Management 1.1.0.3 to use with Spectrum Control. These errors were found in the TCR3101InstallTrace log. They did not all occur at once. Each represents a separate case and a separate action to resolve it.
CTGTRI773E Unable to connect to the Content Store host computer. Check if the specified host name (fully.qualified.host.name) and port number (50000) are valid.
Things to check:
- Is the fully qualified host name valid?
- Is it listed correctly for how the system is defined?
- Does the HOSTS file contain a row for IP address, fully qualified host name, and short name?
- Does "nslookup IP_ADDRESS" resolve to the fully qualified host name? - Is the DB2 port correct?
- From a DB2 command prompt, issue the following command to find out the SVCENAME.
db2 get dbm cfg
Example: TCP/IP Service name (SVCENAME) = db2c_DB2
- If SVCENAME lists something other than a port number, look up the SVCENAME in:
etc\services
Example: db2c_DB2 50000/tcp
Compare that port number to the one in the error. - Is DB2 listening on the port listed for that host?
CTGTRI774E Unable to connect to the Content Store database. A possible cause might be: DB2 SQL Error: SQLCODE=-1031, SQLSTATE=58031
Things to check:
- Did the content store database of TCRDB get created?
From a DB2 command prompt, issue the following command:
db2 list database directory - Can you create a sample database? Use db2sampl script.
- Does your user have authority to create and access the databases? Domain users might not.
CTGTRI674E The installation was not completed. Check the log files for details. Composite Offering Installer (COI) installer component reported the following step failure: TCRCore Install step.
When checking additional logs, look for the ones associated with the Deployment Engine that will be located under IBM\Common\acsi\logs\<user>. In this case, de_trace contained the following error:

Things to check:
- What operating system version and edition is being used?
- Is it supported?
- If the operating system is not a supported one, can another be used?
- Operating system is listed in DE_Install.log
Example: lax.nl.env.LAUNCHPADOSCHECK = Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter
CTGTRI787E Cannot find Tivoli Common Reporting 3.1 in the specified IBM Jazz for Service Management location: xxxxx Hence the installation cannot proceed.
This error can be ignored in most cases. Despite the message, the installation continues and other errors should be found later in the log.
