Troubleshooting
Problem
A WebSphere MQ installation was originally at the Fix Pack 7.1.0.8 level, then Fix Pack 7.1.0.9 was applied. After removing Fix Pack 7.1.0.9 to return it to the 7.0.1.8 level, the MQ Explorer fails to start. In the Explorer log the following exception is reported: java.lang.RuntimeException: Application "com.ibm.mq.explorer.ui.rcp.RcpApplication" could not be found in the registry. The applications available are: org.eclipse.ant.core.antRunner, org.eclipse.equinox.app.error, org.eclipse.equinox.p2.garbagecollector.application, org.eclipse.equinox.p2.metadata.generator.EclipseGenerator, org.eclipse.equinox.p2.publisher.InstallPublisher, org.eclipse.equinox.p2.publisher.EclipseGenerator, org.eclipse.equinox.p2.publisher.ProductPublisher, org.eclipse.equinox.p2.publisher.FeaturesAndBundlesPublisher, org.eclipse.equinox.p2.reconciler.application, org.eclipse.help.base.infocenterApplication, org.eclipse.help.base.helpApplication, org.eclipse.help.base.indexTool, org.eclipse.ui.ide.workbench, org.eclipse.update.core.standaloneUpdate, org.eclipse.update.core.siteOptimizer.
Resolving The Problem
To correct this error, try adding the following two entries (each entry should be on a single line):
- com.ibm.mq.explorer.servicedef.nl1,7.1.0.201611221807,
plugins/com.ibm.mq.explorer.servicedef.nl1_7.1.0.201611221807.jar,4,false - com.ibm.mq.runtime.thirdparty,7.1.0.201611221807,
plugins/com.ibm.mq.runtime.thirdparty_7.1.0.201611221807,4,false
<MQ_Installation_Path>\MQExplorer\eclipse\configuration\org.eclipse.equinox.simpleconfigurator\bundles.info
Then retry starting the Explorer.
Please note that this error is specific to Fix Pack 7.1.0.8 and its plugins.
