Is there any limitation on the maximum number of Object Stores of IBM FileNet Content Platform Engine (CPE) which can be used in a single search?

Question & Answer

Question

This is about content federation search between multiple object stores. We have a requirement wherein we need to search across multiple object stores. We know that in IBM Content Navigator (ICN) we can do content federation across up to 5 object stores. However, our requirement is much more than that (approx. 10/12 object stores) FileNet CE APIs provides provision for Multiple Object Store Search.  Is there any limitation on the maximum number of Object Stores which can be used in a single search?

Answer

There is no hard limit. However, as the number of object stores searched increases performance may become an issue, depending on the size of the overall result set, the distribution of those results across the object stores and whether or not the query is paged (continuable).
