ANR3285W Server fails to start after upgrade to 8.1.2 or 8.1.3

Troubleshooting


Problem

Upgrade of the IBM Spectrum Protect server from 7.1.X to 8.1.2 or 8.1.3 can fail due to GSkit error during startup

Symptom

You may see the following output when server fails to start:

Cause

The LIBPATH variable does not contain the path to the installed version of GSkit

Resolving The Problem

To ensure that the IBM Spectrum Protect server uses the installed version of GSkit, update the LIBPATH variable by running the following command:

export LIBPATH=server_bin_directory/dbbkapi:/usr/opt/ibm/gsk8_64/lib64:$LIBPATH

This will allow the GSKit libraries to found so that the server will not witness the ANR3285W failure during startup.
