Flashes (Alerts)

Abstract

A change made in Cognos TM1 10.2.2 FP7 IF4 and IBM Planning Analytics 2.0.2 IF4 updates a datatype field in the Cognos TM1 Database. The result is that once upgraded to one of these versions, or any future version, you can't downgrade to a previous version.

Content

A change made in Cognos TM1 10.2.2 FP7 IF4 and IBM Planning Analytics 2.0.2 IF4 updates a datatype field in the Cognos TM1 Database.  This change was made due to an issue found when a string that surpassed the 64k limit would potentially delete other data.  The string length can be up to 64 K, however the cube format can only store up 32 K, so when a string that exceeds 32 K is stored, it will cause data to potentially disappear upon save.

Once you upgrade to either of these versions, or any future version, a change is made to the datatype in the database, and you can no longer downgrade.  For example I am using Cognos TM1 10.2.2 FP6 and I upgrade to Cognos TM1 10.2.2 FP7 IF4.  The Cognos TM1 database structure is now changed, and FP6 can no longer start a downgraded set of files.
