Cause

M5 appliances require a specific version of the ASU utility that must be downloaded from Lenovo.

Resolving The Problem

Procedure for M5 Appliances.

  1. Download the asu utility from Lenovo Lenovo ASU 10.4
  2. Using WinSCP or similar utility move the ASU utility to the /tmp directory on the Console.
  3. SSH to the affected appliance.
  4. Create the asu directory to hold the utility.
    mkdir -p /opt/lenovo/toolscenter/asu
  5. From the Console Move the ASU utility from to the affected appliance using SCP.
    scp /tmp/lnvgy_utl_asu_asut94m-10.4_linux_x86-64.tgz Affected_Appliance_IP:/opt/lenovo/toolscenter/asu/
  6. On the affected appliance change into the /opt/lenovo/toolscenter/asu directory.
    cd /opt/lenovo/toolscenter/asu
  7. Using the tar command uncompress the ASU utility.
    tar -xzvf lnvgy_utl_asu_asut94m-10.4_linux_x86-64.tgz
  8. Please do not remove the directory or files in /opt/ibm/toolscenter/asu/ as this may affect upgrades and patching.
  9. To test the new asu64 utility run this command:
    /opt/lenovo/toolcenter/asu/asu64 show imm --kcs

Results: Now you can use /opt/lenovo/toolscenter/asu/asu64 as needed.

Note: To use the commands from the previous versions of the Asu64 you need the path /opt/lenovo/toolcenter/asu instead of /opt/ibm/toolscenter/asu
