How can I download a copy of IBM® Spectrum Control™ V5.2.13 from IBM Passport Advantage® Online?
Answer
To download and assemble the installation parts:
- Go to IBM Passport Advantage Online, click Customer sign in, and sign in by using your IBM ID and password.
- On the Software and services online page, click Software download & media access.
- Use one of the search options under Browse your entitled software to find the link to one of the IBM Spectrum Control products.
- On the product download page, ensure that the Required check box is selected, and then click Download. Do not select the Optional check box unless you are sure that you want to download optional parts. You can download and install optional parts at a later time if you determine that you want to use that functionality. The tables below these steps contain the descriptions and part numbers for the required and optional parts for each IBM Spectrum Control edition.
- When the download is finished, complete the following steps:
- Optional: Verify the checksum values for the downloaded files.
- Follow these recommendations to extract the downloaded files:
- Extract the IBM Spectrum Control server image file into a single dedicated directory. Use the GNU tar program when extracting the files on AIX.
- Extract the DB2® image file into a single dedicated directory.
- Extract the Jazz™ for Service Management, Tivoli® Common Reporting, and WebSphere® Application Server image files into a single dedicated directory.
- Extract the IBM Spectrum Control Monitoring Agent image files for the operating system that you want into a single dedicated directory.
- To install the product, follow the instructions in the appropriate IBM Spectrum Control Knowledge Center.
Required parts
The following tables separate the required parts for IBM Spectrum Control by operating system. A license is required and must be provided during new installations. The license is available on Passport Advantage Online based on product entitlement. If you are doing an IBM Spectrum Control upgrade rather than a new installation, the DB2 image might not be required . See the supported platforms matrix for DB2 version support details.

Jazz for Service Management and IBM Tivoli Common Reporting
Install IBM Jazz for Service Management and IBM Tivoli Common Reporting if you want to use Cognos® Business Intelligence (BI) reports with IBM Spectrum Control. Cognos BI is offered as an optional tool for producing scheduled reports from the data that is gathered by IBM Spectrum Control. You can view information related to your storage resources directly in the IBM Spectrum Control GUI without installing Cognos BI.
IBM Spectrum Control Storage Resource Agent
Install the Storage Resource agent on servers that are managed by IBM Spectrum Control if you want to collect information about resources that are internal to the servers, such as virtual machines, logical volumes, disks, file systems, and host bus adapters (HBAs).
IBM Spectrum Control Monitoring Agent
Install the IBM Spectrum Control Monitoring Agent if you are using IBM Tivoli Monitoring in your storage management environment and want to monitor and view data for IBM Spectrum Control in IBM Tivoli Monitoring. The data includes metrics for the IBM Spectrum Control Data and Device servers, probes, performance monitors, and resources that are managed by IBM Spectrum Control.
IBM Spectrum Control Base Edition
IBM Spectrum Control Base Edition is a centralized server system that consolidates a range of IBM storage provisioning, automation, and monitoring solutions through a unified server platform. The Base edition of IBM Spectrum Control is an improved and enhanced version of the IBM Storage Integration Server solution. It provides a single server backend location and enables centralized management of IBM storage resources for different virtualization and cloud platforms. IBM Spectrum Control Base Edition is available as a free software solution.
IBM Copy Services Manager
Copy Services Manager (formerly Tivoli Storage Productivity Center for Replication) controls features that are used by storage systems, such as IBM® DS8000®, to configure, manage, and monitor data-copy functions. Copy services include IBM FlashCopy®, Metro Mirror, Global Mirror, and Metro Global Mirror.
IBM Spectrum Protect Snapshot
IBM Spectrum Protect Snapshot™ (formerly Tivoli FlashCopy Manager) is the data backup and restore component in IBM Spectrum Control Advanced Edition and IBM Spectrum Control Advanced Select Edition. IBM Spectrum Protect Snapshot provides fast, application-aware backups and restores, leveraging advanced snapshot technologies available with IBM Storage Systems. IBM Spectrum Protect Snapshot is not included with IBM Spectrum Control Standard Edition or IBM Spectrum Control Standard Select Edition.
