Abstract
This document includes information regarding IBM Spectrum Protect™ for Mail: Data Protection for Microsoft Exchange Server 8.1 compatibility with earlier releases.
Content
- Existing backups created using previous versions of IBM Spectrum Protect™ for Mail: Data Protection for Microsoft Exchange Server can be restored using Data Protection for Microsoft Exchange Server 8.1.x within the constraints of the platforms and applications supported by the 8.1 release.
- New backups created with Data Protection for Microsoft Exchange Server 8.1.x cannot be restored using previous versions of Data Protection for Microsoft Exchange Server.
- Data Protection for Microsoft Exchange Server 8.1.x can be used with:
- IBM Spectrum Protect™ Snapshot 8.1.x.
- The following platforms supported with Data Protection for Microsoft Exchange Server 7.1.x are no longer supported with the 8.1 release.
- 32-bit Microsoft Windows
- The following operating systems supported with Data Protection for Microsoft Exchange Server 7.1.x are no longer supported with the 8.1 release:
- 32-bit Windows Server 2008 SP2
- 64-bit Windows Server 2008 SP2
- 64-bit Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1
- The following application supported with Data Protection for Microsoft Exchange Server 7.1.x is no longer supported with the 8.1 release:
- Microsoft Exchange Server 2010
If you are using this application release, you can not upgrade to TSM for Mail 8.1: Data Protection for Microsoft Exchange Server 8.1. You may continue to use TSM for Mail 7.1: Data Protection for Microsoft Exchange Server 7.1.x with this application release for the Support Lifecycle of the TSM for Mail 7.1 release.
