DB2 LUW - Online reorganization on partitioned table

Question & Answer

Question

Is online reorganization on a partitioned table permitted in DB2 for Linux, Unix and Windows?

Answer

No, currently none of the DB2 LUW versions allow Online or Inplace reorganization on a partitioned table. You may submit an enhancement request at the IBM RFE community: https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rfe/?BRAND_ID=184

Document reference:

INPLACE
Reorganizes the table while permitting user access.
In place table reorganization is allowed only on nonpartitioned and
non-MDC tables with type-2 indexes, but without extended indexes and
with no indexes defined over XML columns in the table.
