Question & Answer
Question
I'm running Workfolder Application Facility (WAF) on V7.3 of the IBM i operating system. WAF runs under Content Manager for iSeries Version 5 Release 3. Whenever I try to display images stored on the QDLS file system, I receive an error in IWPM "EVNA7FE0: Invalid path specified." Images stored in the Root file system display fine. What might be the reason?
Cause
You might need a symbolic link to the QDLS file system from within the Root, or you might need to end the QZLSFILET prestart job running in the QSERVER subsystem.
Answer
The EVNA7FE0 error could be caused by a couple of configuration/setup issues. The first is that you do not have a symbolic link to the path of the WAF object directory as defined to the QDLS file system. To add a symbolic link, type ADDLNK and press F4. Type /QDLS/XXXXXXXX for "Object" and XXXXXXXX for "New link", where XXXXXXXX is the object directory (folder name from WRKFLR). For example, to be able to access the images in SUBDIREC.001 of EKDFLD01 from the K: drive, I would add a link where "Object" is /QDLS/EKDFLD01 and "New Link" is EKDFLD01.
Next, assuming you have your server drive mapped correctly (i.e., map drive K:\ to \\system1.rtp.raleigh.ibm.com\Root if you're trying to access images on both Root and QDLS), then the second might be that your IWPM session is attached to the threaded version of the QZLSFILEx job running in QSERVER, and this can cause display failures from QDLS. The QZLSFILEx job is needed for NetServer and the threaded version is shown below:
If you end the QZLSFILET job using ENDPJ, and then try to display the previously failing document, the system will automatically start the QZLSFILE prestart job in the same subsystem and display the document requested. Once the QZLSFILE prestart job is running, it allows for the successful display of the images from both Root and QDLS. You might consider removing the QZLSFILET prestart job from the QSERVER subsystem or start it only when WAF users are not accessing images from QDLS.
