Missing the filespace information from "QUERY BACKUPSET"

Question & Answer

Question

The filespace information is missing from "QUERY BACKUPSET F=D". Example of Query Backupset f=d: Node Name: NODE1 Backup Set Name: NODE1PREFIX.359427 Data Type: File Date/Time: MM/DD/YY HH:MM:SS Retention Period: 365 Device Class Name: LTODEV Description: Sample Has Table of Contents (TOC)?: Yes Filespace names: Volume names: VOL001

Cause

During backupset creation processing on the server, above rows are written to a table to use during QUERY BACKUPSET processing. If an error occurs while writing those rows, GENERATE BACKUPSET does not stop the processing but it continues and then finishes without error message.

Answer

Tivoli Storage Manager considers a backup set as one object containing the whole file structure. You can restore the entire backup set or, in some cases, you can select portions. The backup set media is self-describing and contains all the information required to perform a successful restore.
So the missing filespace information from QUERY BACKUPSET is not a problem when restoring the backupset.

This is working as designed.
