Missing shortcuts after install of DB2 Runtime Client on Windows 2012 R2

Troubleshooting

Problem

The DB2 shortcuts are missing from the All Apps screen after installation of the DB2 Runtime Client on Windows 2012 R2

Symptom

Missing DB2 Shortcuts on the All Apps screen.

Cause

The Windows API that updates the shortcut folder name is not functioning as expected on Windows 2012 R2 operating systems. This causes some DB2 shortcuts to not be displayed.

Resolving The Problem

Manually create the missing shortcut for the DB2 apps to be displayed in the Apps List entry for “IBM DB2 DB2COPY1 (Default)”.

Under C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\StartMenu\Programs\IBM DB2 DB2COPY1 (Default) create a shortcut to db2cw from the SQLLIB\bin installation directory.

The default installation location is:

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\StartMenu\Programs\IBM DB2 DB2COPY1 (Default).

Once added the IBM DB2 DB2COPY1 (Default) folder should become visible in the Apps List with the link to the DB2 Command Window program (db2cw).
