Abstract
Some updates in the IBM Intelligent Operations Center English product documentation are not included in the translated product documentation. These updates include a number of important updates that relate to installation.

Installation documentation updates
- If you are installing or upgrading IBM Intelligent Operations Center in a standard environment, or if you are installing IBM Intelligent Operations Center in a high availability environment, you must complete the steps to configure each server in turn before you run the installation scripts. A note to this effect has been added to the About this task section in each of the following topics:
Installing the servers in a standard environment: Note: Complete steps 1-7, and optionally step 8, to configure each of the four servers before you begin step 9.
Installing the servers in a high availability environment: Note: Complete steps 1-8, and optionally step 9, to configure each of the primary and standby servers before you begin step 10.
Upgrading a standard multi-server installation: Note: Complete steps 1-7 to configure each of the four servers before you begin step 8.
- To upgrade IBM Intelligent Operations Center in a high availability environment, see Upgrading a high availability multi-server installation.
- If you are installing or upgrading IBM Intelligent Operations Center in a standard environment, or if you are installing IBM Intelligent Operations Center in a high availability multi-server environment, it is not necessary to configure the sso.domain.names property. In the translated versions of the documentation, ignore the step that tells you to configure the sso.domain.names property in the following topics:

- If you are upgrading a development edition on Windows, follow the updated instructions in Upgrading a development edition on Windows 7 or Windows 8.1.

- You do not need to configure the HTTP plug-in in a high availability environment, as indicated in Configuring the HTTP plug-in.
- To use the optional Device Management Enablement component, you must also configure an LDAP user registry, and add the IBM Intelligent Operations Center users and groups to the registry. For more information, see Installing Device Management Enablement.
- In the following topics, WaterML (Water Markup Language) is named as an illustration of a protocol that can be used with the optional Device Management Enablement component. Note that your system might be configured to use another protocol.
