There is a cross-site scripting vulnerability in WebSphere Application Server Liberty when using the OpenID Connect (OIDC) client.

DESCRIPTION:
IBM WebSphere Application Server is vulnerable to cross-site scripting in the OIDC client web application caused by improper validation of user-supplied input. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability using a specially-crafted URL to execute script in a victim's Web browser within the security context of the hosting Web site, once the URL is clicked. An attacker could use this vulnerability to steal the victim's cookie-based authentication credentials.

Affected Products and Versions

This vulnerability affects the following versions and releases of IBM WebSphere Application Server

  • Version 8.5.5 Liberty Profile

Remediation/Fixes

The recommended solution is to apply the interim fix, Fix Pack or PTF containing APAR PI58003 for each named product as soon as practical.

For WebSphere Application Server:

For V8.5.0.0 through 8.5.5.8 Liberty Profile:

· Upgrade to minimal fix pack levels as required by interim fix and then apply Interim Fix PI58003
--OR--
· Apply Fix Pack 8.5.5.9 or later.
