An Apache Commons Collections vulnerability for handling Java object deserialization was addressed by IBM WebSphere Application Server Community Edition v3.0.0.4.

DESCRIPTION:
Apache Commons Collections could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the system, caused by the deserialization of data with Java InvokerTransformer class. By sending specially crafted data, an attacker could exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary Java code on the system.

Remediation/Fixes

Please follow the instruction below.

1.Please download the patch file.repository.ziprepository.zip

2.Unzip the attached file into the WebSphere Application Server Community Edition installation directory, and ensure the files listed in the zip file replace the ones in the server installation directory.

3.Start WASCE 3.0.0.4 server with the cache cleaned, for example,

For releases before IBM WebSphere Application Server Community Edition v3.0.0.4,IBM recommends upgrading to a fixed, supported 3.0.0.4 of theIBM WebSphere Application Server Community Edition.

IBM recommends that you review your entire environment to identify vulnerable releases of the open-source Apache Commons Collections and take appropriate mitigation and remediation actions.
