BMXAA0931E - Unable to save presentation labels: IO Error.

Troubleshooting

Problem

This document provides info about error messages that may display during import of menus.xml file into Application Designer app in Maximo.

Symptom

You may experience an error message in Maximo, in the Application Designer app when importing a system xml file, as some change in any of the system XML files used by Application Designer, in this case menus.xml file.

Regarding being unable to import updates for the menus.xml into Maximo. The message returned is:

BMXAA0931E - Unable to save presentation labels: IO Error.

Your error "Unable to save presentation labels. IO Error" indicates that there's something invalid in your labels.

Resolving The Problem

One thing you can do is to investigate whether you have translated labels or if they are in one language.

The labels are not all in the xml and there may be some weird text or special character in one of them that is causing the problem.

You can see the labels in the database with the following SQL statement against your database.

SELECT * FROM MAXLABELS WHERE APP = 'MENUS';

Please have a look at the results of this query to see if you notice anything that looks incorrect.

If this doesn't help then you may need to try the following if you are able to:

1) make sure you have a valid current backup of your database
2) delete your menu labels (you have to use a SQL tool to run the command: delete * from maxlabels where app='MENUS';)
3) then reimport your menus.xml.

This time, you should be able to import successfully the menus.xml file.
