Known Issues and Limitations: Version 7.1 IBM Spectrum Protect™ for Enterprise Resource Planning

Preventive Service Planning

Abstract

Limitations and known issues for IBM Spectrum Protect™ for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) 7.1.x.

Content

Tip: Beginning with Version 7.1.3, IBM Tivoli Storage Manager for Enterprise Resource Planning is now IBM Spectrum Protect™ for Enterprise Resource Planning. Some applications such as the software fulfillment systems and IBM License Metric Tool use the new product name. However, the software and its product documentation continue to use the Tivoli Storage Manager product name. To learn more about the rebranding transition, see http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21963634.

Known Issues and Limitations Applicable to All IBM Spectrum Protect for ERP Components

  • When uninstalling in console mode, the uninstaller may report "Some items could not be removed" although uninstallation completed successfully. (73758)
  • IBM Spectrum Protect for ERP is affected by APAR IT11153: https://www.ibm.com/support/entdocview.wss?uid=swg1IT11153
After some days of normal operation, actions fail with messages like:
ANS1035S (RC406)  Options file '*' could not be found, or it cannot be read.
    or
Cannot open ADSM API message text file.
    or
    BKI4008E: File
    '/usr/sap/H1D/SYS/global/hdb/opt/hdbconfig/initH1D.bki' cannot
    be opened.
Reason:  errno(24)  Too many open files

Work-around: As root user, identify the process ID of the 'prole' process and kill the process. It will be restarted automatically.
    For example:
    # ps -ef | grep prole

  • root   18802  6163  0 17:26 pts/1    00:00:00 /opt/tivoli/tsm/tdp_r3/db264/prole
    # kill 18802

Known Issues and Limitations Specific to Data Protection for Oracle
  • When the backup is executed by a user that does not have the permission to log on to the Oracle database as operating system authenticated user (so the user would be required to specify a password for the connect) the size of the application may not be determined. As a result the protected size reported to the Spectrum Protect Server may be zero.
  • When using Oracle RMAN and the Spectrum Protect setting 'passwordaccess generate' the backup may fail with:
BKI1228W: Server OSCAR can not be used with password access method GENERATE in this environment. The process is running with user ID orat01 but the effective user ID is oracle.
Work-around: Change the option PASSWORDREQUIRED in the corresponding server stanza in the profile init<SID>.utl to YES.

Known Issues and Limitations Specific to Data Protection for SAP HANA®
  • SAP HANA Multitenant Database Container (MDC) systems with isolation level 'high' require manual configuration. A detailed description is available at: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21980653
  • When backing up a SAP HANA Multitenant Database Container (MDC) system the protected size reported to the Spectrum Protect Server may be incorrect. So the overall amount of data for front end capacity licensing shown in the Operations Center may be too low. (101207)
This known issue is fixed with IBM Spectrum Protect for Enterprise Resource Planning v7.1.3.1.

Known Issues and Limitations corrected with IBM Spectrum Protect for ERP 7.1.3.1
  • When backing up a SAP HANA Multitenant Database Container (MDC) system the protected size reported to the Spectrum Protect Server may be incorrect. So the overall amount of data for front end capacity licensing shown in the Operations Center may be too low. (101207)
