Chrome v42 enablement test: "Chrome run out of memory"

Troubleshooting


Problem

If you enable Google Chrome v42 in IBM Rational Functional Tester (RFT) and click on Test, you see error: "Either Chrome run out of memory or the process of the page was terminated for some other reasons".

Symptom

He's dead Jim!: Either Chrome run out of memory or the process of the page was terminated for some other reasons. To continue, reload or go to another page .

Cause

RFT relies on a JRE to interact with any web application. from Google Chrome version 42, Chrome will no longer support Java. For details:

Probably this will also apply to newer Chrome releases.

Resolving The Problem

WORKAROUND

You can use the following workaround only until September 2015.

  1. Start Chrome.

  2. Type: Chrome://flags/@enable-npapi in the URL bar.

  3. Click the Enable link for the Enable NPAPI configuration option.

  4. Click the Relaunch now button that now appears at the bottom of the configuration page.



These steps enable Chrome.
