Error while trying to import or deploying hub configuration

Troubleshooting

Problem

Workbench error Connection to server "xxxxxx" on port 9080 failed MpiNetRR.connect:ProcessingFault:DWLResponseException

Symptom

FFDC Exception:java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException SourceId:com.ibm.ws.sib.msgstore.persistence.lock.DBLockingThread.lockAndUpdateTable ProbeId:1:441:1.4.1.45 Reporter:com.ibm.ws.sib.msgstore.persistence.lock.DBLockingThread@18e501c
java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: ORA-01031: insufficient privileges

Cause

The SIB tables are a function of the Websphere Server.  MDM has no control over these. From the error message the database user configured for the application server (Websphere) does not have the right database permissions to perform the operation it wants to perform for it's SIB tables which it should own. The error message being presented in Workbench is the result of the error message referencing the SIB tables in Websphere. If Websphere can't start the SIB processes it can't process requests coming in from Workbench. Figuring out the privilege problems with the database user account for Websphere that is trying to access the SIB tables will allow Websphere to startup and Workbench to connect.

Resolving The Problem

Correcting the database privileges (verifying the database user name and password were correct within the WAS console) allowed the SIB process to start within Websphere and Workbench was able to connect and import / deploy the Workbench project without any issues.
