Can a new excel emitter be enabled from the BIRT viewer in Maximo v7.5 application?
Answer
When a user exports a report to Excel (file type that it exports it to is “.xls”), this is accomplished via an embedded excel emitter in BIRT. The emitter is fixed within BIRT and cannot be modified.
The only emitters available are those that are delivered with the BIRT product.
In later versions of BIRT, (for example: BIRT v4.3.1 used in Maximo v76) a newer set of BIRT emitters are available. These emitters enable Office 2010 excel files/formats.
