IBM Support

Parallel synchronization between Rational DOORS and HP ALM version control-enabled projects might fail

Troubleshooting

Problem

Parallel synchronization might fail for version control-enabled HP ALM projects if IBM Rational DOORS is the Master EndPoint for Requirement and Test synchronization tasks.

Symptom

After parallel synchronization is completed, most of Requirement and Test entities remain checked-out.

The synchronization summary shows object errors for these objects and mapped attributes value are not updated in HP ALM.

Cause

The HP ALM REST API is not able to differentiate between Requirement and Test Entities while checking out objects in this scenario.

This issue was identified as a product defect and logged internally by IBM as defect 9693.

This issue is identified as defect by HP and it can be tracked as QCCR1J77320.

Environment

Operating system:  Windows Server 2008
Rational DOORS version 9.6 32-bit client
Rational DOORS HP Quality Center Interface, version 3.6
HP ALM version 11.5

Resolving The Problem

You do not encounter this problem if none of the Requirement or Test Synchronization Tasks are executed in parallel for version control HP ALM projects.
