Problem
Attempts to run in-place upgrade user database on Oracle using maintenance tool fails with the error 'CRMMD1226E The "ClearQuest Schema Repository" database is already using the database named "(database name)" on server (server name). ' in IBM Rational ClearQuest.
Symptom
For example, if you use the following names:
SID: cqdb1
User database: DATA1
Server: 127.0.0.1
The full error message is as follows:
Upgrading schema repository "cqdb1" as "cqdb1".
Upgrading Schema Repository system version...
Checking any saved-work blobs for checked-in schemarevs...
Relocating the schema repo...
Successfully relocated the schema repo...
Applying the add-scripts...
Making manual upgrade to feature level 8...
Extending the max length definition in the schema repo database...

CRMMD1226E The "ClearQuest Schema Repository" database is already using the database named "cqdb1" on server 127.0.0.1. Please designate another location for this new database.
Cause
One of the causes of this error message is the use of incorrect user name for user database.
User name must be unique to each user database in Oracle environment.
Resolving The Problem
Re-run upgrade using Maintenance Tool and make sure all information given to new user database properties is correct.
