Problem

ABEND0C4 Reason code 00000011 during CHIN shutdown.

Symptom

ABENDEC6 can be seen in the Channel Initiator(CHIN) address space. Seeing MODIFY command like "F BPXOINIT,TERM=721134" in the System Log being issued to terminate dispatcher threads. ABEND402 can be seen as well.

Cause

Dispatcher processes were terminated with SIGTERM or SIGKILL, causing ABENDEC6 to occur in the CHIN address space. The ABEND0C4 occurred when code in the CHIN address space branched to storage that had been freed when a dispatcher task terminated. ABEND402 due to an Events Table for a dispatcher task had been freed as well, but still an ECB was posted.

Resolving The Problem

Do not issue MODIFY commands such as "F BPXOINIT,TERM=nnnn" to terminate dispatcher task threads.
