IBM Support

Errors running standard reports after Eclipse install

Troubleshooting

Problem

After installing Eclipse and expanding the sqljdbc.jar file, the user still gets an error when running standard reports

Symptom

com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException

Cause

The sqljdbc jar files are not in the correct path.

Diagnosing The Problem

If you are getting this error look in the folder

birt371\eclipse\plugins\org.eclipse.birt.report.viewer_3.7.1.v20110905\birt\WEB-INF\classes\com

You should have 2 folders ibm & microsoft.

The Microsoft folder contains the database drivers necessary for eclipse to connect to the db.

Resolving The Problem

As it says in step 2D,

extract the contents of the jar file to

<birt_371>\eclipse\plugins\org.eclipse.birt.report.viewer_3.7.1.v20110905\birt\WEB-INF\classes

Making sure that the microsoft folder is placed directly under the com folder.
No restart is required.
