GLF probe constantly using high CPU

Troubleshooting


Problem

The Windows version of the GLF probe is seen in Windows Task Manager as constantly using about 25% CPU.

Symptom

The GLF probe is constantly using about 25% CPU and restarting the probe will get the CPU usage back to normal.

Cause

This has been identified as a product defect under APAR IZ77011

Environment

Windows version of GLF probe V7.1 and V8.0

Diagnosing The Problem

When the monitored log file is deleted and re-created whilst the GLF probe is running, the GLF probe will be seen to be constantly using about 25% CPU. Restarting the probe will get the CPU usage back to normal.

Resolving The Problem

The issue is fixed in GLF Probe version 8.3 or higher. Please contact Support to get the latest version of the GLF probe.
