IBM Support

InfoSphere Replication Server transfer is delayed and the MQ XMITQ fills with messages.

Troubleshooting

Problem

An unexpected enormous volume of messages (200 million) are processed through QReplication, causing the WebSphere MQ transmission queue (XMITQ) to pile up or fill up.

Symptom

QCapture is putting messages on the SENDQ, but then it waits due to the transmission queue filling up. The XMITQ has a large queue depth, e.g. 12767245.

Cause

Channel throughput is being limited by a combination of page set I/O (due to the queue depth being too large to do all processing within the buffer pool) and end-of-batch turn around time.

Resolving The Problem

  • Increase the BATCHSZ from 50 to 500 on the channel.
  • Enlarge the MQ buffer pools(BUFFPOOL).
  • Increase the service class for Capture and Apply.
