Troubleshooting
Problem
You receive an abend 0C4 or AKEX (abend0C4 abendAKEX) in CICS Dispatcher module DFHDSDS3. You are using vendor product IAM from Innovation Data Processing for some of your CICS Transaction Server for z/OS (CICS TS) files.
Symptom
DFHDS0001 An abend (code 0C4/AKEX) has occurred at offset X'FFFF' in module DFHDSDS3.
Cause
Vendor code defect, S0C4 abend in IAM module IAMACCKS at offset 0740.
Diagnosing The Problem
Your CICS region produces a DS0001 system dump. Looking at the internal trace from the dump, you see an exception trace similar to the following for the task running on the RO TCB
DS 0060 DSDS3 *EXC* - DSDS3_RECOVERY - FUNCTION(PARTITION_EXIT)
TCB_PTR(288B5F00)
While the error happened in program DFHDSDS3, IPCS tells you it did not happen under the CICS RB.
An investigation of the MVS PSW and registers shows you that the failing instruction is in module IAMACCKS +x'0740'. This module belongs to the IAM product. See Locating the PSW for a program check in a CICS TS 4.2 or 5.1 system dump for more information on how to locate the PSW and registers when you receive a program check that has an offset of X'FFFFFFFF'.
