RLKS Administration and Reporting Tool does not generate reports for product names that contain Japanese characters

Troubleshooting


Problem

The IBM Rational License Key Server (RLKS) Administration and Reporting Tool (ART) does not generate reports for product names that contain Japanese characters.

Cause

Japanese version of IBM Rational Collaborative Lifecycle Management (CLM) products contain Japanese characters 変更管理と構成管理 〔= Change and Configuration Management), 品質管理 (= Quality Management) and 要求管理 ( = Requirements Management) and IBM Rational Administration and Reporting Tool (ART) does not process double byte characters.

Environment

Japanese version 3.0, 4.0 and 5.0 of IBM Rational Collaborative Lifecycle Management (CLM) products.

Resolving The Problem

You need to perform the following procedure to resolve the issue.



For a new installation RLKS Administration and Reporting Tool 8.1.4.5 or higher.

Procedure:

  1. Install the RLKS Administration Agent 8.1.4.5 or higher.

    Refer to Installing version 8.1.4.5 of the server administration agent in the IBM Knowledge Center.

  2. Install the RLKS Administration and Reporting Tool 8.1.4.5 or higher.

    Refer to Installing version 8.1.4.5 of the server administration and reporting tool in the IBM Knowledge Center.

  3. Ensure the RLKS Administration Agent and RLKS Administration and Reporting Tool are not running.

  4. Make a copy of the rclagent.war file as a backup at: <Agent_Install_location>\servers\rclagent\apps

  5. Use a file archiver (such as 7-Zip) to open the featureToProduct.properties within the original rclagent.war file that is located at: WEB-INF\classes\

  6. Replace the following line with the Japanese equivalents for Change and Configuration Management, Quality Management and Requirements Management in escape unicode format

    JazzToken=Change and Configuration Management#Quality Management#Requirements Management

    Example:

    JazzToken=\u5909\u66F4\u7BA1\u7406\u3068\u69CB\u6210\u7BA1\u7406#\u54C1\u8CEA\u7BA1\u7406#\u8981\u6C42\u7BA1\u7406#Change and Configuration Management#Quality Management#Requirements Management#Design Management#Engineering Lifecycle Manager

  7. Save this file in the rclagent.war file

  8. Start the RLKS Administration Agent.

  9. Navigate to the directory <Admin_Install_Location>\server\conf\rcladmin

  10. Open the featureToProduct.properties

  11. Replace the following line with the Japanese equivalents for Change and Configuration Management, Quality Management and Requirements Management in escape unicode format

    JazzToken=Change and Configuration Management#Quality Management#Requirements Management

    Example:

  12. Start the RLKS Administration and Reporting Tool

  13. Perform "Adding a license server" in the RLKS Administration and Reporting Tool.
    1. Go to the License Server Administration home page.
    2. Click Server to open the License Server Administration home page.
    3. Click Actions > Add.
    4. In the Add License Server pane, enter the server name, and select the server type.
    5. Enter the host name and test the server connection.
    6. Add the server to the license server list. After you add the server to the application, the server information is displayed in a table.
    7. Select the server from the table, and click the License Server tab.
    8. Click Actions > Start Server.

  14. Perform "Start Reporting" to enable the server to report license usage information in the RLKS Administration and Reporting Tool.
    1. Go to the License Server Administration page.
    2. Select a server from the table, and click the Reporting tab.
    3. Click Actions > Start Reporting.


For upgrading from the existing RLKS Administration and Reporting Tool 8.1.4.4 or older

Procedure:

  1. Perform Remove reporting in the RLKS Administration and Reporting Tool.
    1. Go to the License Server Administration page.
    2. Select a server from the table, and click the Reporting tab.
    3. Click Actions > Remove Reporting.

  2. Ensure all *.rdf and *.ttl files have been deleted from <Agent_Install_Location>\servers\rclagent\apps\rclagent_resources.

    If not, manually delete these files.

  3. Ensure that *.ser files have been removed from <Agent_Install_Location>\servers\rclagent\apps\rclagent_resources\backup,

    If not, manually delete these files.

  4. Stop the RLKS Administration agent.

  5. Upgrade to the RLKS Administration agent 8.1.4.5 or higher.

    Refer Upgrading the server administration agent to version 8.1.4.5 to in the IBM Knowledge Center.

  6. Make a copy of the rclagent.war file as a backup at: <Agent_Install_location>\servers\rclagent\apps

  7. Use a file archiver (such as 7-Zip) to open the featureToProduct.properties within the original rclagent.war file that is located at: WEB-INF\classes\

  8. Replace the following line with the Japanese equivalents for Change and Configuration Management, Quality Management and Requirements Management in escape unicode format

  10. Start the RLKS Administration Agent.

  11. Upgrade to the RLKS Administration and Reporting Tool 8.1.4.5 or higher.

  12. Navigate to the directory <Admin_Install_Location>\server\conf\rcladmin

  13. Open the featureToProduct.properties

  15. Start the RLKS Administration and Reporting Tool

  16. Perform Start Reporting to enable the server to report license usage information in the RLKS Administration and Reporting Tool.
    1. Go to the License Server Administration page.
    2. Select a server from the table, and click the Reporting tab.
    3. Click Actions > Start Reporting.



    For upgrading from the existing RLKS Administration and Reporting Tool 8.1.4.5 or higher to 8.1.5 or higher

    Procedure:

    1. Upgrade the Rational License Key Server Administration Agent to V8.1.5 or higher.

      Refer Upgrading Rational License Key Server Administration Agent to version 8.1.5 in the IBM Knowledge Center.
    2. For backup, make a copy of the rclagent.war file at: <Agent_Install_location>\servers\rclagent\apps.
    3. Use a file archiver (such as 7-Zip) to open the featureToProduct.propertiesin the original rclagent.war file that is located at: WEB-INF\classes\.
    4. Replace the following line with the Japanese equivalents for Change and Configuration Management, Quality Management and Requirements Management in escape unicode format:

      JazzToken=Change and Configuration Management#Quality Management#Requirements Management

      Example:

    5. Save the file in the rclagent.war file and start the Rational License Key Server Administration Agent.
    6. Upgrade the Rational License Key Server Administration and Reporting Tool to V8.1.5 or higher.

      Refer to Upgrading Rational License Key Server Administration and Reporting Tool to version 8.1.5 in the IBM Knowledge Center.
    7. Navigate to the directory <Admin_Install_Location>\server\conf\rcladmin and open the featureToProduct.properties file.
    8. Replace the following line with the Japanese equivalents for Change and Configuration Management, Quality Management and Requirements Management in escape unicode format

      JazzToken=Change and Configuration Management#Quality Management#Requirements Management

      Example:

    9. Perform Remove Reporting in the Rational License Key Server Administration and Reporting Tool.
      1. Go to the License Server Administration page.
      2. Select a server from the table, and click the Reporting tab.
      3. Click Actions > Remove Reporting.

        Note: Wait until the data is removed from the database.
    10. Start the Rational License Key Server Administration and Reporting Tool.
    11. Perform Start Reporting to enable the server to report license usage information in the RLKS Administration and Reporting Tool.
      1. Go to the License Server Administration page.
      2. Select a server from the table, and click the Reporting tab.
      3. Click Actions > Start Reporting.
