Question

How do you install IBM Rational License Key Server in console mode?

Cause

In situations, where a GUI session of the Operating System (OS) on server machine is not available, customer can perform the installation in console mode by using the instructions provided in this document.

Answer

Procedure:

Note: Ignore the install as "root" warning.

  1. Extract the archive containing the installers

    unzip IBM_Rational_License_Key_Server_Linux_x86_ZIP.zip
     
  2. Navigate to Installation Manager location under the extracted directory or folder.

    cd /RLKSSERVER_SETUP_LINUX_X86/disk1/InstallerImage_linux_gtk_x86_64/tools
     
  3. Run the install manager under console mode

    ./imcl –c
     
  4. Type P and press ENTER at the following screen:


     
  5. Type 1 press ENTER to change the setting of repositories.


     
  6. Type D and press ENTER to add a repository.

  7. Type the path to diskTag.inf and press ENTER.


     
  8. Type A and press ENTER once the repository is added.


     
  9. Type R and press ENTER to return to menu.


     
  10. Type I and press ENTER to install a package.


     
  11. Verify that console displays IBM Rational License Key Server 8.1.4.
    Type 1 and press ENTER to select the software, then type N and press ENTER.


     
  12. Type A and press ENTER to accept the license agreement.
    Type N and press ENTER.


     
  13. Review that Shared resource directory location.
    Type M to change or N to continue with default and press ENTER.


     
  14. Review the default installation location.
    Type M to change or N to continue with default and press ENTER.


     
  15. Review the default Translations/Language.
    Type corresponding number to change or N to continue with default and press ENTER.


     
  16. Review the features to be installed.
    Type N and press ENTER.


     
  17. Type I and press ENTER to install.
