Troubleshooting
Problem
Attempts to update IBM Rational Robot to v7.0.3.9 result in error "Upgrading IBM® Rational® Robot to 7.0.3.0.9 is not allowed ... "
Symptom
The full error message is as follows:
Upgrading IBM® Rational® Robot to 7.0.3.0.9 is not allowed; it is not compatible with the other packages.
Cause
The error message is diagnostic.
The reason why you cannot mix ClearCase, ClearQuest and Robot versions at will is that these three products share libraries.
Already the 7.0.3.1 package updates the following library in the common folder.
improdinfojni.jar
If you would install Robot 7.0.3.2, you get ten DLL updates. That means that updating Robot to any newer version will update the common folder.
The result would be that the other products would use newer DLLs, if you keep these products at the base version 7.1.1. This is an unsupported configuration, because it has never been tested.
Environment
You installed the following versions.
- IBM Installation Manager: 1.4.4
- IBM Rational Robot: 7.0.3
- IBM Rational ClearCase: 7.1.1
- IBM Rational ClearQuest: 7.1.1
Resolving The Problem
You have two options.
Option 1
Use Robot on another computer without ClearQuest and ClearCase.
Option 2
- Update Installation Manager to the latest version.
- Update ClearQuest and ClearCase to 7.1.1.09 and Robot to 7.0.3.0.9 at the same time. To do so, select show recommended only in the Update Packages window.of Installation Manager.
