Content
General
In Cognos TM1 10.2.0 FP1 there is a new 64-bit Cognos TM1 Performance Modeler installer available.
The new 64-bit installer allows you to utilize the extra memory available on 64-bit machines when executing certain functions in Performance Modeler.
There are two areas in particular that will benefit from the ability to utilize more client memory:
- Transfer of large objects
- Import of a IBM Cognos Planning model (the import of a large Cognos Planning model may require more memory than the default heap size for 32-bit Performance Modeler could support)
By default the maximum memory used by the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) running 64-bit Performance Modeler is now 4 GB; for the 32-bit MSI it is 512 MB. (This is the -XMx setting found in the PerformanceModeler.ini file)
Installation
The 32-bit installer is still provided and supported. If you have a current installation of the 32-bit Cognos TM1 Performance Modeler, running on a 64-bit Microsoft Windows operating system, and you wish to leverage the ability to use additional memory, you would need first to uninstall the 32-bit version from the Windows Control Panel. You can then re-provision Cognos TM1 Performance Modeler from the Cognos TM1 Applications portal. By default, the 64-bit installer will be provisioned to clients running a 64-bit operating system.
Also note a change to the default installation location. The install location (when the ALLUSERS installation flag is not set) will change from
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\IBM\Cognos TM1 Performance Modeler
to
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Programs\IBM\Cognos Performance Modeler
The location has changed to mirror that of IBM Cognos Insight.
Logging
There is a change to the location of Cognos TM1 Performance Modeler log files; the change aligns Performance Modeler with Cognos Insight. The new location is:
C:\Users\<username>\.Performance Modeler\logs
