Problem

Web pages served over a secure connection (HTTPS) may not display embedded content served from remote sites over an insecure connection (HTTP). This issue impacts IBM Rational Quality Manager (RQM), IBM Rational Requirements Composer (RRC), IBM Rational Team Concert (RTC) and IBM Rational DOORS Next Generation.

Symptom

This issue is seen when performing various operations such as Logins, viewing dashboards and more.

For instance, if a dashboard page that is located on a secure (https) server contains a viewlet to content on another server that is accessed over an insecure connection (http), that viewlet may be blocked by the browser.

All browsers will experience this issue (Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome).

Cause


The web pages contain mixed content.

Mixed http and https content is blocked in later browser versions.

Diagnosing The Problem

Steps:

  1. Start Firebug tool and navigate to Console tab.

  2. Reproduce the issue.

  3. Navigate back to Console tab in Firebug. You see following error message:

You can avoid this issue by ensuring that all your deployments use the same security settings (https preferred). Please consult with your IT department for information about how your enterprise wishes to manage your browser settings.
