Problem

Attempts to access multiple instances of the same product where the product instances are launched through different UNIX or Linux terminals results in two licenses consumed; however, Rational License Key Server Administration and Reporting Tool reports only a single license consumed.

Symptom

For certain Rational products, Rational License Key Server Administration and Reporting Tool reports less license usage under the following rare scenario:

On Linux and UNIX systems, when you access multiple instances of the same product from a machine, but the product instances are launched through different UNIX terminals.

In this scenario, if two instances are launched, two licenses are consumed; however, Rational License Key Server Administration and Reporting Tool reports this as a single license consumed.

The following Rational products are affected due to the above limitation of Rational License Key Server Administration and Reporting Tool:

  • Rational Insight
  • Rational Publishing Engine
  • Rational DOORS
  • Rational Focal Point
  • Rational Rhapsody
  • Rational System Architect

Cause

Rational License Key Server Administration and Reporting Tool approximates UHD and UHDV duplicate grouping to UH.

This issue has been identified as a product defect.

Resolving The Problem

There is no workaround.
