IBM Support

For IBM Business Process Manager (BPM) Advanced, a password issue occurs with the tw_user and results in a "SECJ0055E: Authentication failed" error

Troubleshooting

Problem

You are running IBM Business Process Manager Advanced V7.5.1 Fix Pack 1 (7.5.1.1) in a 4-cluster topology. After you change the default passwords for the tw_* IDs including the tw_user, you notice that the performance database definitions in that Process Center are not getting updated even after you click update tracking definitions.

Symptom

You might see many errors in the data transfer errors table, but views are not built.

You might see the following errors:

SECJ0055E: Authentication failed for tw_user. The user id or password might have been entered incorrectly or misspelled.  The user id might not exist, the account could have expired or disabled.  The password might have expired.

Cause

The IBM_BPM_PerformanceDW runAs user was not properly updated after the user password was changed.

Resolving The Problem

To resolve the issue, you need to update the "RunAs" user role password. Complete the following steps in the administrative console for the Performance Data Warehouse application:

  1. Click Enterprise Applications > IBM_BPM_PerformanceDW_ProcCtrNode02_server1> User RunAs roles.

Note: IBM_BPM_PerformanceDW_ProcCtrNode02_server1 is the default name for the Performance Data Warehouse application. Your application name might be different.

  2. Select the check box for the tw-loader role.

  3. Enter the correct tw_user password.

  4. Click Apply.

  5. Make sure that the nodes are synchronized after the change.

  6. Restart the support cluster.
    .
